AUBURN, Ala. – In the final midweek contest of the season, Auburn softball (23-13-1) treks to Mary Bowers Field to face UAB (20-22) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT.

"You remember what the beginning of our season was like," said head coach Mickey Dean. "It was raining every week. We just kept pushing back, but we were able to finally get this game rescheduled. They are calling for rain in Birmingham on Wednesday by my understanding, so we'll just do our thing regardless."

Wednesday's midweek clash is slated to be available on ESPN+. Jacob Hillman will have radio coverage locally on WEGL 91.1 FM and on the Auburn Sports Network.

The two squads met last week in the final midweek contest at Jane B. Moore Field. Maddie Penta and Shelby Lowe combined for the no-hitter as the Tiger offense ended the game in five innings with a 9-0 victory.

Auburn is looking to continue its weekend momentum as the Tigers upset No. 6 LSU with a pair of road wins to clinch their first SEC series of the season. The Tigers have won eight of their last 10 contests heading into the final three weeks of the regular season.

UAB is coming off its second consecutive AAC series sweep after taking down Memphis at Mary Bowers Field last weekend. Over the series, the Blazers outscored Memphis 13 to 3.

The Tigers hold a 16-2 advantage in the all-time series versus UAB and are looking to win their 14th consecutive win over the Blazers. In Birmingham, Auburn is a perfect 5-0. The Tigers are making their first trip to Mary Bowers Field since 2016.

It was Shelby Lowe that was the star in the circle for the Tigers over the weekend. Tossing her first seven-inning complete game in SEC play since her freshman campaign, Lowe clinched Auburn's first series win in Baton Rouge since 2015 with a 3-1 win on Sunday.

Her counterpart Maddie Penta continues her dominating numbers as she ranks third in the country in total strikeouts and fifth in shutouts. Penta ranks fourth among all active Division I pitchers with 855 career strikeouts to her name.

Anna Wohlers paces Auburn's offense with a .333 batting average. She leads the team in runs scored (26) and is tied for the team lead in hits with Icess Tresvik as the duo both have 32. Tresvik has recorded a hit in seven of her last eight games.

Amelia Lech continues to be an RBI and slugging powerhouse for the Tigers. She currently ranks 13th in the SEC in total home runs (9), 14th in home runs per game (0.24) and 18th in slugging percentage (.633) as she leads Auburn in all three categories while her 30 RBI this season also tops the team.
