AUBURN, Ala. – A trio of Auburn softball (17-11-1) pitchers combined for the fourth perfect game in program history as the Tigers shut out Samford 8-0 in five innings on Wednesday.

Maddie Penta, Shelby Lowe and Annabelle Widra silenced the Bulldog (9-25) offense to record the first combined perfect game in Auburn softball history. The trio recorded 10 strikeouts.

"They hit their spots really nice tonight," said head coach Mickey Dean. "In five innings, we threw like 65 pitches. That's just really effective work. Our defense did well. We scored all eight runs with two outs. That's always a good sign."

Penta earned the win to improve to 10-6 on the season. She struck out five of the nine batters she faced. Lowe and Widra each tossed one inning of relief. Lowe struck out three while Widra fanned two.

Offensively, the Tigers recorded eight runs on seven hits. All eight runs were scored with two outs on the scoreboard. Finding her groove at the top of the lineup, Anna Wohlers went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. KK McCrary carried her hot hitting over the weekend into the midweek tilt with a 2-for-2 outing with three runs scored and a pair of RBI.

Amelia Lech put the Tigers on the board in the first inning with a three-run blast. McCrary's third home run in as many games came in the second frame to push the lead to 5-0 before Peralta added her third double of the season to drive in a run.

Makayla Packer did the final damage in the third with a bases-clearing triple. The 10th triple of her career, she is now one shy of tying Tiffany Howard for the program's career record.

Auburn concludes its homestand this weekend hosting the War Eagle Classic. The Tigers face Louisiana Tech and Georgia Tech over four-games. The tournament begins Friday with a 2 p.m. CT contest with the Lady Techsters.
