WICHITA, Kan. – Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball’s AUX season concluded Tuesday night with Auburn softball alumna Maddie Penta turning in her strongest professional performance during Series 3.
Penta was taken in the seven round of the Series 3 draft by Team Mazon which was captained by Oregon State softball alumna Mariah Mazon.
The Chesapeake City, Maryland, native appeared in three games over the course of Series 3. She earned her first professional save in her Team Mazon debut. She tossed a pair of innings and allowed just one run off three hits to carry the blue squad to victory.
Her top performance of the season came on Sunday in her start for Team Mazon. Issuing just one free pass, Penta took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Team Alo broke up the no-no bid. Penta earned the victory and closed the contest allowing just one run off three hits while striking out two.
Behind her efforts in the circle, Penta earned one of three Most Valuable Player honors handed out after each contest.
The 2023 SEC Pitcher of the Year concluded her professional season Tuesday night with a relief appearance, striking out one in her frame of work.
Penta concluded the AUX season 35th in the overall standings, totaling 804 points in her rookie campaign. She finished third in the league with 16 strikeouts. Posting a 2-1 record with one save, Penta gave up just 12 earned runs over 21.0 innings, posting a 3.94 earned run average. She held opponents to a .222 average at the plate. She allowed the fewest home runs of any pitcher in the league, issuing just one.
