AUBURN, Ala. – No. 6 Women’s golf looks to continue its winning ways over the weekend at the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma. Auburn opened its 2024-25 season with a team victory at the Cougar Classic earlier in the month. The Tigers’ 54-hole score of 847 (-5) led to a one stroke victory over second place LSU in the event.
One round will be played each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Belmer Golf Club, which is a par 70 being played at 6,188 yards. Auburn will be joined in the field by Florida Atlantic, No. 14 Florida State, Iowa State, Houston, Kansas State, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, TCU, Texas State, Tulane, Tulsa, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and host school Oklahoma.
Anna Davis enters the event after earning a runner-up individual finish in the team’s first tournament. Davis did not record a round over par on her way to a 6-under 207 for the event.
The SEC Co-Player of the week’s tournament was highlighted by an opening round 67 (-4) that included five birdies. She followed up her opening round with a second round of 69 (-2) and a final round of even par (71). The finish marked her fourth within the top-5 since joining the team in January.
Redshirt junior Casey Weidenfeld will be making her season debut at this weekend’s tournament. In her second year with the Tigers in 2023-24, Weidenfeld recorded a 72.35 scoring average over 37 rounds. She notched a couple of runner-up individual finishes at the Mason Rudolph Championship and the Tar Heel Invitational.
The Pembroke Pines, Florida native had 16 rounds under par last season, which tied the most in program history, and trails only Megan Schofill in the program record book in career scoring average at 72.64 (minimum 60 rounds).
Auburn will be paired with players from TCU and Iowa State in the opening round beginning just after 10 a.m. CT off the first tee. Live scoring of the tournament will be available online at scoreboard.clippd.com.
