AUBURN, Ala. – No. 19 Auburn is set to conclude its regular season tournament schedule at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The tournament’s three rounds of stroke play will be held March 24-25, with 36 holes of continuous play on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.
“We’re getting to play a famous course at Colonial in Fort Worth, which is a tree-line golf course,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “It’s a traditional course where you have to drive it well. There are small greens and small targets so very different than most of the courses that we’ve played this spring which have been more wide open.
“It’s a really great field and will be a brand new event for everybody, so nobody has the advantage of knowing the golf course. We’ll do our homework on the practice round day and let them go!”
The Tigers will be joined in the 15-team field by 10 teams inside the SCOREBOARD top 25 and five teams inside the top 10: No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Oregon, No. 5 USC, No. 6 Texas and No. 9 Wake Forest.
The historic Colonial Country Club, which was founded in 1936, is best known as the host of the PGA Tour’s longest running tournament annually each May, the Charles Schwab Challenge. The course will be played as a par 72 at 6,092 yards.
The same five players that participated in Auburn’s last event at the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play will be in the lineup for the event: Anna Davis, Balma Dávalos, Carys Worby, Katie Cranston and Rachel Gourley.
Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. on both days and Monday’s 36-holes will begin with a shotgun start. Live scoring of the tournament will be available online at scoreboard.clippd.com.
