FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 19 Women’s golf is in fourth place through the first two rounds of the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational that were played on Monday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Through 36 holes, the Tigers are 8-over for the event (568) and eight strokes behind the tournament co-leaders, No. 3 Oregon and No. 9 Wake Forest.

“Pretty solid start on a great golf course,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “Anna (Davis) and Katie (Cranston) played beautiful golf. The hole locations were quite challenging and as the temperature heated up, the greens got firmer. Looking forward to the final round and a strong finish!”

Sophomore Anna Davis led the Tigers, carding a 2-under 68 in round one followed by a 1-under 69 in round two. Davis’ opening round was highlighted by an eagle on No. 11, a par-5, while her second round featured three birdies. The sophomore is in a tie for fourth place individually and trails the tournament co-leaders by two strokes. Davis holds a par-4 scoring average of even par through two rounds, which is tied for the third best in the field.

Junior Katie Cranston is also under par through the first 36 holes at 1-under (139). Cranston recorded seven total birdies on Monday, just three short of the most in the field, and finished her second round with two birdies in her final three holes. Cranston is tied for eighth place on the leaderboard.

Freshman Balma Dávalos shot 72 (+2) in her first round, then 74 (+4) in her second round. Her 6-over 146 places her in a tie for 39th place individually. Carys Worby fired rounds of 4-over (74) and 3-over (73) on Monday and is tied for 43rd on the individual leaderboard.

Junior Rachel Gourley provided the Tigers with a counting score in the opening round, a 73 (+3). Through 36-holes, Gourley is 11-over (151) and tied for 59th.

As a team, Auburn played the par-5s at Colonial Country Club at 6-under on Monday, one stroke shy of the best mark of any team in the event.

Auburn will begin Tuesday’s final round at 9 a.m. CT paired with players from Arizona and Texas. Live scoring of the final round will be available online at scoreboard.clippd.com.
