The Longhorns’ momentum continued in singles, where they won the opening set on five of six courts. Texas extended its lead to 2-0 when Lucas Brown finished off a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nicholas Heng on court six.

Auburn freshman Hamza Nasridinov dropped his first set to Sebastian Eriksson 6-2, but fought back in the second set. Nasridinov won three of the first four games in the second set. Trailing 5-4 late in the set, Eriksson won each of the next three games to win the set 7-5 and extend the Longhorns’ lead to 3-0.

Frusina jumped out to a 4-1 lead in his opening set at the No. 2 position before eventually winning it 6-4. The second set between Frusina and Gorzny was close, with Gorzny taking a 5-4 lead late in the set. With the set tied at five, Frusina earned a crucial break and held in the next game to win the match in straight sets.

The win improved the Auburn freshman’s overall singles record to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in dual matches. The win over the 13th ranked singles player in the nation marked Frusina’s highest ranked singles win of the season.
