AUBURN, Ala. – No. 14 Auburn will begin its quest for the program’s 11th SEC Championship on Monday at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. After three rounds of stroke play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the top eight teams will move on to the match play portion of the championship. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Thursday while the finals will take place on Friday.
“The SEC, just like in every other sport, is stacked from top to bottom,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “Winning the stroke play is our goal, but anything in that top eight will be good. The golf course is all dependent on hole locations. It’s really about when to be aggressive and when not to be. There’s a lot of strategy involved and you have to be good around the greens.”
This will be the second season the event is taking place at Pelican Golf Club after moving from Greystone Country Club, where the championship was held from 2013 to 2023.
Auburn sophomore Anna Davis will enter the SEC Championship with momentum after winning the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational in the Tigers’ last team competition and making the cut at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
Davis won the Charles Schwab by one stroke with a 54-hole score of 201 (-9), which set the record for lowest in program history, highlighted by a final round 64 (-6). The Spring Valley, California, native then finished the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in a tie for 11th place after shooting 4-under 212 over three rounds. She finished the prestigious event with a final round 70 (-2) at Augusta National Golf Club.
Out of the 16 SEC teams in the field, Auburn is one of 11 that are ranked inside the SCOREBOARD top 25: No. 2 Arkansas, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 6 Texas, No. 11 LSU, No. 14 Auburn, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 18 Ole Miss, No. 20 Mississippi State, No. 21 Vanderbilt and No. 24 Florida.
Last season, Auburn finished the stroke play portion of the SEC Championship in second place before falling to Georgia in the quarterfinals.
Thursday afternoon’s semifinals will be streaming live on SEC Network + while the finals will be broadcast on SEC Network on Friday. Live scoring for each round of stroke play and match play will be available at Golfstat.com.
