AUBURN, Ala. – Two members of the Auburn men’s golf team, Carson Bacha and Josiah Gilbert, have been awarded College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors, CSC announced Tuesday.
The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the course and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA, have a minimum of one year completed at their current institution and have played in at least 90% of their team's contests from the current season.
Bacha, an outgoing senior, graduated from Auburn with a 3.60 GPA in finance. He was named to the Academic All-District Team in 2023 and earned GCAA All-American Scholar status in 2023 and 2024.
On the course, the York, Pennsylvania native was the only Tiger to appear in all 14 team events, finishing in the top 10 in half and averaging 70.37 strokes per round. He concluded the season earning a top 15 in four of his final five tournaments, including T3rd at the SEC Championship and fourth at the NCAA Auburn Regional.
Gilbert, a rising junior studying communication, earned CSC honors with a 3.65 GPA. It is the first academic award he’s received as a Tiger.
Athletically, Gilbert built upon a solid freshman foundation and pieced together a remarkable season from start to finish. He began the year with his first career win at the Valero Texas Collegiate and followed it up with five consecutive top 15s. In Auburn’s three postseason events, he never placed higher than T18th. Gilbert was also crucial in the Tigers’ SEC quarterfinal win over No. 3 Texas as he defeated WAGR No. 8 Christiaan Maas 1-UP.
Bacha and Gilbert were recently named GCAA All-Americans for the first time in their respective careers. Gilbert made second team while Bacha was named to the third.
Both men were selected as finalists by the CSC committee and will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
