A member of Auburn Athletics for the last 21 years, Joy Vrbka was named the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration in January 2023.
She serves as a member of the executive leadership team and is primarily responsible for the administration and oversight of sports administration, sports performance, sports medicine, and equipment while continuing to serve as the sport administrator for men’s and women’s golf and volleyball.
Vrbka has served in numerous roles within Auburn Athletics since her arrival on The Plains in 2003. She began her career as a graduate assistant in athletics administration and served in various roles including Assistant Women’s Golf Coach, Assistant to the Athletics Director and Assistant Athletics Director for Administrative Operations.
In 2014, she was promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Administrative Operations, serving as the chief administrator for the Athletics Director's office and providing strategic administrative support for the Athletics Director. In July 2017, she was assigned sport administrator responsibilities for men’s and women’s golf and added sport oversight for volleyball in June 2018.
Vrbka also served as interim Senior Woman Administrator on two occasions and attended Southeastern Conference meetings to engage in discussions and vote on awards and important topics on behalf of Auburn.
Vrbka holds professional memberships with Women Leaders in College Sports and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
A native of Fort Myers, Florida, Vrbka was a golf student-athlete at the University of Florida and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She obtained a master’s degree in higher education administration from Auburn.
She is married to Tom Vrbka, a native of Shelby, Nebraska, and the couple has a beloved Australian cobberdog named Hunny Bee.
